Round water tanks made from steel are still found right throughout the world today. Although steel round water tanks are still highly popular the poly round water tank has taken over as the Australian favourite because of lower costs, lower weight and easy of transport.
Round Water Tank Design
Despite the longevity of the round water tank design, advances in design and construction mean a new design in steel or poly seems to pop up every month.
Above the ground cylindrical tanks come in straight wall or corrugated sides. Steel tanks are now available in anised steel, colourbond steel, zincalume steel and the new Aquaplate steel which features an internal poly coating.
Traditional round water tanks are ideal for connection to existing plumbing for a wide range of household uses, from drinking water to garden irrigation to water for the laundry and bathroom.
Round water tanks are far more economical than slimline or underground options but they generally take up much more room. If space is a limiting factor for your installation you might have to bypass a round water tank and look at a slimline tank. Slimline water tanks are generally taller but will also normally fit down the unused side of the house.
