how do i keep my drinking water clean in my outside plastic tank.?

i have a plastic 1000lt tank , i can clean it out catch fresh rain water witch can measure as little 1ppm ,and within a short time it turns green, how can i stop this and still have it suitable for drinking.

You have algae in the tank. A small amount of bleach will kill the algae and still be safe to drink.
